Jurassic Coast Hike - West Bay to Golden Cap Circular

This route is a tough hike starting at West Bay, the beautiful picturesque fishing port in Bridport; it is where the successful TV programme Broadchurch was filmed.  Golden Cap is the highest point on the South Coast of Great Britain and as you'd expect affords some stunning views both east and west.

11.3 Miles, 2289 ft Total Climb

The hike forms part of the Southwest Coastal Path so the trail is well trodden but at the same time it is not an easy going walk.  There are several ups and downs and you can expect the hike to take around 5 hours.  Therefore make sure you are well prepared with your gear, food and plenty of water.

What is a GPX file?

GPX stands for 'GPS eXchange Format' which contains route details that can be uploaded for use with most outdoor sports GPS navigation devices.

I don't have a GPS navigation device, can I still use the file?

Yes, if you have an iPhone or smartphone there are many walking/hiking apps that will allow you to upload the GPX file via the web for use on your iPhone or smartphone.

For the iPhone I recommend GB Outdoors for walking and hiking in the UK and have detailed instructions on using the app.
